FELLOW

Annat Kehinde Shittu is the founder of FARMATAGO, an agribusiness and innovation platform transforming Africa’s food ecosystem by bridging smallholder farmers to reliable markets, reducing post-harvest losses, and strengthening food safety across value chains. Her work sits at the intersection of technology, climate resilience, value addition, and inclusive market access—advancing a more sustainable and efficient agricultural sector.

One of Annat’s most notable innovations is SALOCOOL, a climate-adaptable chilling solution designed to preserve the freshness and quality of perishable produce. By significantly reducing spoilage, SALOCOOL increases farmers’ incomes and improves food availability. The solution is rapidly gaining traction among farmers and traders, emerging as a game-changer for perishable food storage in Nigeria.

Complementing this innovation, FARMATAGO’s digital platform connects consumers directly to fresh, hygienically handled farm produce, improving traceability, transparency, and fair pricing. To further enhance food security and household nutrition, the enterprise also processes agricultural produce into convenient, ready-to-cook formats—making healthy food more accessible while creating additional value for farmers.

Beyond enterprise growth, Annat is deeply committed to farmer capacity building and systems change. She has trained over 50 farmers in climate-adaptive production practices, aggregation, and off-take models, with indirect reach to more than 100 farmers across Southwest Nigeria—strengthening productivity, resilience, and market participation.

Her influence extends into policy and advocacy. As a Youth Agri-Champion at COP28, Annat contributed to high-level conversations on climate-resilient food systems, amplifying youth and farmer perspectives in global agricultural policy dialogues.

Annat’s leadership and innovation have earned her multiple recognitions, including the Women in Agribusiness Award (Guzakuaza) and selection for the AgriInnovation Challenge (AIC) by the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN). Her impact is supported by adoption data for SALOCOOL, farmer training records, policy engagement outputs, and testimonials from beneficiaries.

Through FARMATAGO, Annat Kehinde Shittu continues to drive inclusive, climate-smart solutions that empower farmers, reduce food waste, and strengthen Africa’s food systems for a more sustainable future.
