The Leading African Women in Food Fellowship is an ambitious program aimed at supporting changemakers who are making outstanding contributions/impact in the African food ecosystem. This initiative amplifies, celebrates, champions, and advances the work of these female food changemakers.
Kofoworola Deborah Awoyera is driving transformation in the African food ecosystem through Dharkagfoods, an enterprise committed to food processing, distribution, capacity building, and advocacy. By processing and packaging agricultural produce, she extends shelf life and enhances nutritional value, ensuring communities have access to safe, nutritious food. Through a robust distribution network, Dharkagfoods supplies products to local markets, restaurants, and retailers, increasing food accessibility across different demographics.
Kofoworola is deeply invested in empowering small-scale farmers, equipping them with training and support to improve their yields and incomes. Beyond business operations, she leads advocacy efforts through Dharkagfoods’ NGO arm, promoting sustainable agriculture, food safety, and nutrition education, fostering a healthier and more resilient food system. Her Health, Well-being, and Nutrition Initiative has directly impacted people in less privileged communities, increasing food access and nutritional awareness by 55%.
This initiative has provided support to over 500 children, offering nutrition education, well-being programs, school fee assistance, and health support. Through Dharkagfoods, Kofoworola continues to bridge the gap between food production, accessibility, and nutrition, creating sustainable impact in African communities while empowering farmers, children, and market traders with knowledge and resources for a better future.
