The Leading African Women in Food Fellowship is an ambitious program aimed at supporting changemakers who are making outstanding contributions/impact in the African food ecosystem. This initiative amplifies, celebrates, champions, and advances the work of these female food changemakers.
Nyifamu Ogechi Manzo is a dynamic agribusiness leader driving innovation in Africa’s food systems. As the Founder of Farmatrix, she connects smallholder farmers with markets, logistics, and financial services, providing purchase order financing, warehousing, and input support to boost productivity and reduce post-harvest losses. Between 2022-2024, Farmatrix facilitated market access for over 5,200 farmers in Northern Nigeria, increasing their earnings by 35% and cutting post-harvest losses by 30%.
Beyond Farmatrix, Nyifamu has trained 150+ women and youth in Kaduna through urban farming initiatives that use domestic and environmental waste for sustainable agriculture. On a continental scale, she co-founded the African Food Alliance under the World Economic Forum, creating Africa’s first directory of young agripreneurs to foster collaboration and investment. Her work has been recognized by Gitex Africa, the World Economic Forum, and the African Food Systems Forum, solidifying her impact in scaling climate-smart, profitable, and resilient agricultural solutions for Africa’s food security.
