Sylvie Djacbou Deugoue
FELLOW

Sylvie Djacbou Deugoue is a highly skilled policy advocate from Cameroon with over a decade of experience. Sylvie is a passionate campaigner advocating for stronger environmental policies in the Congo Basin. She works tirelessly in areas such as, community outreach, corporate sustainability, agricultural and forest policy, forest communities' land rights and well-being, and protection of the Congo Basin forest. She firmly believes that forest communities play a crucial role in addressing climate and food crises and has collaborated with a diverse range of stakeholders worldwide in her work. 

Sylvie's passion lies in motivating and supporting youth and marginalized individuals, particularly women and girls, empowering them to believe in themselves and develop their leadership abilities. She envisions a future where they can drive sustainable change, create jobs, and achieve their full potential. 

As the founder and president of the Youth in Action Association (YouAct) and an Aspen New Voices Senior Fellow, Sylvie actively engages in initiatives to uplift and empower young people. Additionally, she serves as a forest campaigner for Greenpeace Africa, contributing to the organization's vital conservation efforts. While Sylvie is deeply committed to her professional endeavors, her Christian faith holds paramount importance in her life. Above all else, she strives to honor her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, through her actions and contributions. 

Sylvie's academic achievements include Master's Degrees in Industrial Biochemistry, Water & Sanitation, Sustainable Development & Governance, and Environmental Health Science from the University of Yaounde I, Cheikh Anta Diop, and Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yveline, respectively. She is pursuing a Ph.D. in sustainable economic growth, further enriching her expertise in her field.
