The Leading African Women in Food Fellowship is an ambitious program aimed at supporting changemakers who are making outstanding contributions/impact in the African food ecosystem. This initiative amplifies, celebrates, champions, and advances the work of these female food changemakers.
Ugonna Ogechi Ejiogu is a trailblazing advocate for Nigerian food tourism and the founder of Mitya's Food Diary. She is on a mission to showcase the incredible variety, depth, and cultural richness of the Nigerian food scene and promote it as a prime tourist destination. Ugonna is also the co-founder of The Tang Impact, a respected food and hospitality consulting company based in Nigeria. Her expertise and passion have led her to become an Ambassador at the World Food Travel Association.
Ugonna pursued her education in mass communication at Western Delta University, and her culinary explorations have gained recognition from prominent Nigerian publications such as Zikoko Magazine, Piggyvest Blog, and My Cookery Zone (MCZ). In recognition of her significant contributions to the tourism industry, Ugonna was honored as the "Tourism Personality of the 1st Quarter of 2022" by Let's Go Nigeria. She was also recognized as one of "Africa's 100 Most Influential Travel & Hospitality Influencers 2022" by Ranks Africa.
With her extensive travel experiences throughout Nigeria, Ugonna has conducted insightful reviews of over 150 restaurants and hotels, providing valuable insights for locals and tourists. Additionally, she has served as a distinguished judge on "That Naija Flavour," a youth-focused economic empowerment program that promotes the fusion of local cultures through gastronomy. Driven by her unwavering passion and dedication, Ugonna Ogechi Ejiogu continues to champion the promotion of African gastronomy, leaving an indelible mark on the culinary landscape while inspiring others to explore and appreciate the culinary treasures of Nigeria.
